The Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Fitness Center at 8500 Fallbrook Avenue, West Hills is slated for closure on October 2 .  The owner is Boeing Fitness who leased the center to Pratt & Whitney since its merger.  Pratt has declined to renew their lease.  The center is home to the Aerospace Retirees club, Local UAW union meetings, and hosts fitness classes for seniors.  In addition Prat employees and their families have utilized the park with its swimming pools, tennis courts, picnic areas and a large variety of fitness equipment.  The multiple acre park is a historic landmark for this community and was bought from the original estate landowner in 1959.

 

Seniors in the community are eyeing the park for a future West Valley Senior Center.  The matter will be discussed at the West Hills Neighborhood Council  on Wednesday, August 4 at 7pm  at Chaminade High School, entrance off of Saticoy,  West of Woodlake Avenue.
