WHNC has a new meeting location at
Chaminade High School
Next meeting - Jan. 9, 2008

23260 Saticoy Street in West Hills

Chaminade Preparatory School has opened up their new facilities for us to hold our meetings on their campus. The Chaminade auditorium will provide a larger and more comfortable meeting area for us and will allow us to provide refreshments during our meetings. Download the January 2008 Agenda here

We also would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the 911 Center for having allowed us to hold our meetings there over the past 3 years. It has proved an invaluable resource to the council and we are all grateful for the opportunity and relationship provided to the community

Letter to LADOT re Valley Circle and Highlander

At the November 7, 2007 meeting of the West Hills Neighborhood Council, it was agreed that the Council would consolidate and provide questions from the community with regard to the traffic control issue at Valley Circle and Highlander Road. Please read the Letter from Mr. Stephen Lenske dated January 11, 2008, written to Mr. Ken Firoozmand of Los Angeles Department of Transportation. Mr. Firoozmand agreed that he would in turn provide responses to those questions and concerns.

The responses Mr. Firoozmand to that letter from can be downloaded here.

The Valley Circle Traffic and Safety Action Plan available for download in PDF format (11MB), as is the Valley Circle Corridor Map.

How to request to be on the Agenda

Please download this WHNC Request for Support Submission Form (MS Word document), complete with as much detail and background information to the WHNC Board as possible, and return by email at least 3 weeks in advance of the meeting you wish to have your issue presented. Please submit by email as early as possible to mail@westhillsnc.org to request to be included on a meeting agenda.

Are you interested in filling a vacant WHNC Board Seat?
If you are interested in serving on the WHNC Board as an appointment to fill any vacant board seats, please download the WHNC application for appointment, and submit it to Michelle.Ritchie@westhillsnc.org.

Signs Of A Stroke

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three
simple questions:

1. *Ask the individual to SMILE.
2. *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
3. *Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (coherently).
( e.g., "It is sunny out today ." )
4. If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
