Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson spoke about reforming the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power during the WHNC’s May 5 meeting at de Toledo High School.
Also during the meeting, the WHNC presented Certificates of Appreciation to David Daily, Devin Coury and Sandra Taylor, who administered aid to the two pedestrian victims in a fatal car accident on April 11 in West Hills.
John Lee, chief of staff for City Councilmember Mitchell Englander, assisted the WHNC’s Youth & Education Committee, headed by Aida Abkarians and Ed Young, in presenting the Neighborhood Council’s first group of awards to local elementary school educators and support staff.
Also, just-retired WHNC board member Jacqueline C. Young was honored for her service to the community. A former teacher at Cleveland and Chaminade High Schools and Hale Middle School, she remains active in the Youth & Education Committee.
The WHNC board completed the evening by voting on several budget items and community impact statements.
