West Hills E-Waste Recycling and Paper Shredding Event

On Saturday August 26 2017, the #WestHills community came together to improve the environment, support the LAPD, and raise awareness about the importance of kindness. Thanks in part to Esperanza Butler and the Jordan Strong Foundation, the community was able to freely dispose of trucks full of e-waste and unwanted documents for shredding. That's not all, Esperanza was also able to arrange that 50% of the recycling proceeds would go to support the LAPD Topanga Police cadet program. The turnout was so amazing that lines of cars stretched around the block from the Fields Market plaza, and the e-waste recycling company had to call additional trucks to handle all the drop offs. In addition, we had an amazing turnout for the West Hills Neighborhood Council's Homelessness Committee clothing drive which will go to support those that are homeless or at the brink of homelessness in our community. The West Hills NC was honored to have played a small role in the event from traffic control, to event assistance, and raising awareness about the importance of civic engagement in Los Angeles. Again, we want to sincerely thank our former WHNC board member and one of West Hills' MVP's Esperanza Butler for making this event possible and for including the Neighborhood Council.
