The WHNC Beautification Committee with help from the UCLA West Valley Medical Center and other community volunteers had a very successful cleanup on Medical Center Drive-more than 75 bags were filled with trimmings and debris! Chief Operating Officer, Dave Morgan, shared with us: "We value our partnership with the West Hills Neighborhood Council and were proud to join in the cleanup of Medical Center Drive, working together to keep our community clean and welcoming."
At our July 10, 2025 Board meeting, the following Executive Officers were elected: Charlene Rothstein, President; Aida Abkarians, Vice President; Brad Vanderhoof, Secretary; Carolyn Greenwood, Treasurer; Saif Mogri, Controller. SB 79 On Tuesday, August 19, the City Council voted IN FAVOR of the Resolution in opposition to SB79 sponsored by Councilmembers Lee and Park. Mayor Bass signed the Resolution opposing the measure unless it is amended to exempt cities with a state-approved and compliant housing element. SB79 is currently in the Senate Appropriations Committee for a vote next week, then would go to the full Assembly and finally to the Governer for signature. Please email Assemblymembers expressing your position on this crucial bill.
Bill passed the CA Senate within a half-mile radius of any rail station or major bus stop, it completely bypasses local zoning laws that include single-family housing with no community input or environmental review.
